Mokka is literally squeezed into a corner of the restored Armson Woolstore Building. Though compact, a sense of spaciousness has been achieved through the thrifty use of colour and an emphasis on bold, yet refined, forms and detailing. Against this sparse backdrop the rich texture of the original building is cast in sharp relief.

The design for this cafe evolved from a scrapbook of images presented by the client and grew as a discussion about materials and textures long before the question of style was raised.
