Knox Church - Christchurch CBD

The rebuild of Knox Church on the prominent gateway site on the corner of Bealey Ave and Victoria Street is an important step in the reinstatement of Christchurch’s depleted church stock. The building provides much needed performance and ecclesiastical space for the city and preserves the historically rich timber structure, which is visible through tall clear glazed windows. The exterior shell is formed using a rocking post tensioned concrete column and steel tie beam structure with areas of acid etched concrete and copper cladding. Four design awards have been received for this project since its completion in December 2014. ❮
